It includes all of West Virginia and parts of Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Ohio, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. The mountains begin in the north in Newfoundland, Canada, and extend as far south as Alabama in the United States. The copper weathervane with gold leaf in the form of a centaur came from a barn in Hollis, N.H. Organized by the American Folk Art Museum and drawn from the museums collections, it will open June 20 in four galleries at Schermerhorn Row in the South Street Seaport. The annual fundraiser, held every February, invites a dozen chefs from local restaurants to compete in a blind tasting for the title of best New England Chowder in Portland. His favorite brand comes in restaurant-size cans from Food Service America, a wholesale distributor to restaurants. Drove down to Portland - arrived just in time for lunch. Of course it had to be seafood - specifically lobster - at the Weathervane Seafood Restaraunt delicious. A short drive south brought us to Two Light State Park in Cape Elizabeth and some gorgeous scenery of the Casco Bay area. They were also extrememly helpful with directions and suggestions for local restaurants. Expensive, no refrigerator, no continental breakfast, restaurant closed or reserved fro tour bus people.
